About

No matter what season of life you are in, counseling can help provide the tools and insight needed to bring about positive change. Difficult life stressors should not be faced alone. As a clinician, Caneel's goal is to provide a safe and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship rooted in warmth, trust, and empathy. She believes in the healing power of connection and seeks to help her clients feel understood and empowered. Her core belief is, "How can I provide a relationship which this person can use for their personal growth?" (Carl Rogers).

Caneel began her career in mental health, serving at a diverse college counseling center, and her clinical experience is in outpatient settings. She has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults and treats a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, adjustment/life transitions, stress management, self-harm, self-esteem, eating/body image, trauma, relational conflict, women's issues, and grief/loss.

Caneel understands that each client is unique and tailors her treatment approach according to your individual needs. Her primary treatment modalities include person-centered, acceptance and commitment therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. In her free time, Caneel enjoys dancing to live music, adventuring in nature, and reading self-development books.

Why Healthcare

There are many reasons why Caneel is passionate about mental healthcare. Caneel struggled with symptoms of anxiety and depression during her junior year of college, which led to her seeking out personal therapy. Finding encouragement through her therapists' warmth and kindness, Caneel credits the therapeutic process for aiding in navigating life's challenges. A few years later, Caneel decided to enter the mental health field in hopes of offering clients the same level of empathy and support that she once received. Being mindful about meeting clients where they're at, Caneel is honored to join clients on their journey toward growth and healing.
