About

Since 1998, Alaine’s life’s work has been devoted to counseling and coaching individuals and families with evidence-based interventions that actually work! Her professional style also integrates wellness and mindfulness techniques that equip and empower clients with the skills they need to make healthy choices to heal themselves and their loved ones. Her inspiration comes from her mother, Julie, a former nurse for 40 years. Julie’s generous heart and healing hands instilled in Alaine that compassion and the right skills are what we need to make the world a better place, one person at a time. When one of us gets better, we all get better.

We all struggle to maintain our lives from time to time. This is the moment when we need support the most. Friends and family aren’t always quipped to help. When you start therapy to get the help you need and deserve, you and Alaine will utilize techniques such as Solution-focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Alaine will support you in looking at issues in a new way with new tools on how to manage life’s challenges. You’ll like the way you feel.

During her graduate work at NYU, Alaine was fortunate to train in the outpatient alcohol and substance use treatment program at St. Luke’s hospital in Manhattan, and The Alcoholism Council of New York. This experience motivated her to work in treatment programs in Harlem and Brooklyn and the Bronx, where she became trained as a Substance Use Counselor, a Seeking Safety Trauma Specialist and an HIV counselor and educator.

This work was truly rewarding and showed her the importance of recovery and the need for more education about maintaining good mental health. After giving birth to her daughter in 2007, Alaine’s interest grew to incorporate childhood development and mental health issues in children, families, and couples.

She has worked for the past 10 years with individuals, families and couples to address addiction recovery, managing mental health diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. Her training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Functional Family Therapy, and Imago Couples Therapy techniques have proven to be extremely beneficial to her clients. Alaine is currently becoming trained and more knowledgeable in the mind/body connection through Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness Meditation, and Nutritional Healing. She’s learned that no two people are alike, and therapy interventions need to be specialized to match the needs of each individual person.

Why Healthcare

“It is very gratifying to me to see a client feel better, think more clearly, and improve their lives from a little professional support and trying some new techniques. I’ve felt passionately about mental healthcare for most of my life as a result of the positive influence my mother and other healers have had on my family and community. Being an agent of change through mental health counseling is truly rewarding and will always be a good choice for me.”
