Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
When people think of an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), they’re often intimidated just by the title. However, in a warm and caring environment, an IOP is an opportunity for patients to undergo more in-depth treatment to help them recover from a mental illness.
At Harmony Bay, we combine both the clinical aspects of mental health therapy with a more personalized approach that enables you to heal in all areas of your life. That way, you don’t feel as if you are entering some cold facility where no one is listening or cares about what is going on with your situation.
What is Intensive Outpatient Program
Harmony Bay offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for those who need assistance stabilizing mental health symptoms currently being experienced.
Clients with a personalized treatment plan that includes IOP receive at least nine hours of outpatient therapy weekly. Clients on this treatment schedule typically meet with their specialist three to five times weekly. The length of the client’s appointment varies from one to three hours.
Although these extended appointments may seem intense, this additional time gives the client the space necessary to think about, feel and then express their most rooted mental health issues.
What to expect
A psychiatric evaluation starts by identifying the circumstances or causes of the mental health condition. This can include factors such as a person’s individual or family history, substance use, development, medical history, social experiences, or overall mental wellness.
Safe & Caring Environment
By participating in an IOP, you can address issues that are causing your mental condition and then find a path toward real treatment and healing. Your goals will depend on your individual needs and condition. In addition, our trained specialists can help you in the following ways:
- Teach coping skills
- Help you develop problem-solving strategies
- Guide you toward greater self-awareness
- Allow you to explore further treatment options including medication
- Help you recognize unhealthy or destructive behavior
Through our intensive outpatient program, we can give you the strength to ask for help and support when you need it. You don’t have to feel as though you are living in the shadows of your mental condition anymore.
